Concept Note:
Education plays a crucial role in shaping the character and quality of people and defining contours of social change. The HR education encompasses all levels of education be it school or College. It is a known fact that the sustainable development of a nation depends on the culture of respect towards human rights and values. Any development has multi-pronged approach in educational, social and political arena and boasts of development dimensions in a globalized contextual understanding.
Human rights cut across all traditional disciplines usually taught hitherto in Colleges and Universities. Law, Humanities, Social Sciences and Environmental Studies should be involved in the action plan of HR education and value inculcation. But this education must interact with ground realities rather than be confined to class room discourses. Our youth is ready to break the silence on such issues. The nationwide protest in December 2012 invites our attention to brood upon the HR issues afresh in the changing scenario.
The event is seminar cum conference, open to all and aims to attract and involve students, youth, academicians, researchers, practitioners, extension scientists, social workers, NGOs and all concerned stakeholders to address multi- dimensional needs of HR education- moral, legal and contextual. It will broadly focus on but not limited to the following issues:
-Theoretical Perspectives on Human Rights
-Creating a Balance between Values and Rights
-Human Rights and NGOs
-Human Rights, Human Needs and Youth
-Human Rights and Values in Social, Economic and Religious Context
-Civil and Political Rights in Indian Society
-Teaching Methodology and Material Preparation for HR Education
- Literature, Human Rights & Values
-Science, Human Rights & Values
-Man-Nature Relationship & Disasters
-Evolving Strategy for HR Awareness and Value Inculcation

Aiming at intellectual fusion and fruitful mingling of many multidisciplinary perspectives, the Seminar wishes to broaden our understanding of the linkages between HR, Values, Youth and (a just and safe) Society and the role of HE in promoting HR.  However, the seminar offers a good opportunity to reflect upon the current issues of Human Rights Education and Value Development by developing a strategy for a safe and just society.
